Eva for Dinner

Chef and owner Charlie Perry was already cooking and baking up delicious locally sourced pastries and tapas at his Eva and Eva’s Bakery locations in downtown Salt Lake City.  Now he has added some additional firepower to Eva’s Bakery.  If you get the hankering for his cooking in the evening, you can now visit the bakery Tuesday through Saturday to sample his dinner menu.  Believe me you will not be disappointed!

Duck Chowder

Duck Chowder

One of the advantages of having a delicious bowl of duck chowder in a the same space as a French bakery, is having a plethora of bread choices to go along with it.  We tried the sourdough and mountain loaves and they were each a work of art.  I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the duck chowder.  Charlie nailed the flavor and consistency of this soup.  My wife was reluctant to order it due to her diet so instead went with the local organic garden salad.  Wow!  what made the salad was the delicious cheddar cheese mixed throughout.

Braised Local Pork Roast

Braised Local Pork Roast

The braised local pork roast was one of the best dishes of food I’ve ever had.  period.  I love gnocchi, and Charlie does them perfect.  The Au Jus along with the pork roast topped with shaved slices of parmesan cheese.  I’m getting teary eyed just thinking about.  Want to know something else great about this dish?  It was only $15.  Based on flavor and portion alone, this dish is worth twice that amount.  You don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to get food of this quality.

Pecan Crusted Chicken Breast

More wonderful food pictured above.  The veggies from this chicken dish was amazing, as was the pecan crusted chicken.  Not pictured in this review were the dessert choices which included a decadent chocolate lava cake and lemon chiffon cake.

The dining room is not huge here, so you won’t have to worry about a huge crowd.  If you are looking for delicious food, along with some pastry options to take along with you, then Eva Bakery is a great option.  The breakfast and lunch here are fantastic and now dinner is as well.
