It would have been a crime to have eaten lunch inside on a day like this.  I found a spot and rolled the dice on an Indian place up in Holladay.  They advertised a $9.99 all you can eat lunch buffet along with outdoor patio seating.  I made my way inside and was immediately greeted and taken back to my seat.  The hostess was very friendly and...

Fresh Donut & Deli

Fresh Donut & Deli

Last Friday was National Donut Day around the country.  You gotta love it when you are trying to lose some weight, and come into the office only to find your desk filled with fritters.  It was fritter Friday with the account relationship management team, and as resident food critic, it was my duty to sample each fritter.  My contribution to this lovely bunch...

Oh Mai Vietnamese Sandwich Kitchen

Oh Mai Vietnamese Sandwich Kitchen

Jun 5, 2013

Two basic questions that I ask myself when going out to eat are 1. How much time do I have to eat?  and 2. How much do I want to spend?  If you are looking for both quick service and affordable prices, then look no further than Oh Mai Vietnamese Sandwich Kitchen. There seems to be a wide range of sandwich choices and prices in Salt Lake City.  On one side...

Ever since quitting my theatre job a few months ago I see less and less of downtown Salt Lake City.  Every week I would drive down 3rd West and would pass the intersection of 600 South and notice just a Subway and a sushi restaurant next door.  I never bothered stopping in since I’m not a real sushi fan, and there are literally thousands...

New to Utah this past month is Pie Five, which has a strong presence in Texas and just opened their first store outside that area near the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Holladay.  I’ll be completely honest in this review, this is NOT the best pizza you can get in Utah.  I can think immediately of 5-6 better tasting pizza places.  I think these guys...

Carl’s Cafe

Carl’s Cafe

May 6, 2013

When I go into Carl’s Cafe, I feel like I am being transported into a diner from the 80′s.  Not the in your face “Saved by the Bell” diner, but a foot of the canyon, ski bum diner.  The good news here is that apparently someone forgot to tell Carl that this is 2013 and not the 80′s and food nowadays generally costs more....

I feel the need to set proper expectations before I begin this review.  I understand that I basically only review places I love on this website.  If you have ever seen my womanly figure, it is pretty apparent that I love a LOT of places in Salt Lake City.  So with that said if I were to start rating restaurants on a scale of 1 to 5, then you will probably...

My food adventure has finally taken me to the other side of the Oquirrh Mountains to Tooele, Utah.  I can probably sum up in one paragraph what I know about Tooele.  It is the town that you drive by on your way out to Wendover.  It is also home to the Miller Racing Complex, and the Tooele Army Depot, as well as a chemical weapons incinerator.  (Okay I admit...
