Yes that is a golden kitty cat with its hand waiving back and forth as you go inside Mai Thai restaurant in South Jordan. I normally am not a cat person. I don’t hate cats like Greg Focker, I’m just more of a dog person. I can say that this cat made me smile though. Somehow it reminded me of the movie Gremlins in the beginning scene when the kid goes inside the artifact store, and there are all sorts of little curios everywhere. Things like this interest me, so my visit was off to a good start.
Next we have this little room off to the side of the main dining room. I can see myself having noodles in here with Daniel Laruso and Mr. Miyagi. How awesome is this room? You step up into the room, and then you kinda let your legs dangle in the inner pit. I didn’t get a chance to eat in there, but I wouldn’t mind trying it out. I just hope those pads are nice and firm, because I have a little too much junk in the trunk if you know what I mean.
I came in with a Groupon certificate I had to use. My intention was to order from the menu, because as a rule of thumb, I don’t like to review places based on a buffet. However, after passing the buffet and seeing all the options they had, I threw caution to the wind and went with the all you can eat approach. I was further reassured later when a lady came out of the kitchen with a fry pan of piping hot chicken curry that she placed in the buffet serving tray. This lady looked like she knew what she was doing. I of course got a big spoon full and put it on my plate. It was yummy.
That little spring egg roll on the side of my plate wasn’t too shabby either. Mai Thai gives you and assortment of dipping oils for them. They were pretty good and tasty.
Short and sweet this time. You South Valley folks have probably driven by this place a time or two from the South Jordan Parkway. In a nutshell, this is nice change of pace for you buffet eaters that are sick and tired of Chuck and Rama, and have spent way too much time in the bathroom after failed China Buffet visits. They have a golden kitty cat that will welcome you with open … paws. Go check it out.
