Pie Five Pizza Co

Pie Five Pizza Co

May 22, 2013

New to Utah this past month is Pie Five, which has a strong presence in Texas and just opened their first store outside that area near the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Holladay.  I’ll be completely honest in this review, this is NOT the best pizza you can get in Utah.  I can think immediately of 5-6 better tasting pizza places.  I think these guys...

Carl’s Cafe

Carl’s Cafe

May 6, 2013

When I go into Carl’s Cafe, I feel like I am being transported into a diner from the 80′s.  Not the in your face “Saved by the Bell” diner, but a foot of the canyon, ski bum diner.  The good news here is that apparently someone forgot to tell Carl that this is 2013 and not the 80′s and food nowadays generally costs more....

Feldman’s Deli

Feldman’s Deli

Apr 26, 2013

I feel the need to set proper expectations before I begin this review.  I understand that I basically only review places I love on this website.  If you have ever seen my womanly figure, it is pretty apparent that I love a LOT of places in Salt Lake City.  So with that said if I were to start rating restaurants on a scale of 1 to 5, then you will probably...

Bonneville Brewery

Bonneville Brewery

Apr 19, 2013

My food adventure has finally taken me to the other side of the Oquirrh Mountains to Tooele, Utah.  I can probably sum up in one paragraph what I know about Tooele.  It is the town that you drive by on your way out to Wendover.  It is also home to the Miller Racing Complex, and the Tooele Army Depot, as well as a chemical weapons incinerator.  (Okay I admit...

Cafe Trio

Cafe Trio

Apr 16, 2013

As I was walking up to the Cafe Trio door for lunch today, I wondered to myself why they repeated the word “Cafe” three times.  Was it some Hebrew thing where if you repeat a word 3 times, it adds maximum emphasis like “Verily, Verily, Verily I say unto you”?  Or was it like Dorothy clicking the ruby slippers three times and repeating...

Porcupine Pub & Grille

Porcupine Pub & Grille

Apr 11, 2013

Ski season may very well be coming to an end here in Salt Lake City, but it doesn’t mean you can’t take a trip to the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon and pay a visit to Porcupine Pub and Grille.  Porcupine has that ski lodge feel to it, while being very open and modern at the same time.  I enjoyed the wooden floors, walls, and tables throughout....

Boulevard Bistro

Boulevard Bistro

Apr 6, 2013

Boulevard Bistro is a new restaurant up on Foothill Drive in front of Dan’s Market.  The building was beautiful, with both indoor and outdoor seating.  Upon entering the restaurant a few things stood out.  First, there was a huge display of gelato in the entry way.  I loved it.  Second, we were greeted right away even though the place was very busy,...

Tulie Bakery

Tulie Bakery

Mar 30, 2013

Tulie Bakery – home of some of the best croissants in town.  You can’t find a “Best Bakery” contest without seeing Tulie Bakery consistently ranked in the top 3.  Why it has taken me this long to pay a visit, I really have no excuse.  Located a few blocks away from the 9th and 9th district in Salt Lake City, the average passerby might...

Eva

Eva

Mar 23, 2013

I remember the first time I went to the Copper Onion, I had heard so much about it from friends, colleagues, and fellow bloggers.  When I finally got a chance to visit, it did not disappoint.  I can say the exact same thing about Eva.  I have had a running “Places to Visit” list on my iPhone for the past 6 months.  It started out with just 10-15...

Per Noir Trattoria

Per Noir Trattoria

Mar 19, 2013

Per Noi Trattoria is a great find in the middle of a large residential area in Sugarhouse.  The inside isn’t anything overly glamorous, just a comfortable, family feel to the restaurant.  Nice enough for date night, but not so fancy where you would feel uncomfortable bringing along the kiddos.  For the quality of the Italian food you get, the prices...
