From Scratch

From Scratch

Feb 24, 2015

I feel pretty excited about some of the restaurants I’ve been able to check off my ever growing “need to visit” list.  From Scratch just South of the Gallivan Center was one of them. Getting there and parking was a breeze for a downtown restaurant, there is a parking garage just around the corner East of the restaurant, so you don’t have...

Alamexo

Alamexo

Feb 21, 2015

Alamexo is the new Mexican kitchen on State St. and Gallivan Plaza that replaced ZY Restaurant a few years ago.  I really loved ZY and was sad to see it close.  When Alamexo opened, I read a few reviews on-line that said the food was expensive and just so-so.  I decided to wait a bit before giving it a try.  That wait finally came to an end last night....

Enjoy

Enjoy

Feb 19, 2015

There is nothing overtly flashy about Enjoy Chinese Cuisine in West Jordan.  The building wasn’t ornate or posh, in fact, Enjoy is located in a strip mall off of 7800 in suburbia West Jordan.  However, the title of the restaurant “Enjoy” might be the best word to describe it.  I “enjoyed” Enjoy during my lunch stop here a few hours...

Copper Kitchen

Copper Kitchen

Feb 18, 2015

The word Copper is quickly becoming the Pavlov’s dog to my appetite.  I just have to hear the word “copper” and I immediate get hungry.  Newly opened Copper Kitchen is the third member of the Copper Trinity in Salt Lake City joining Copper Onion and Copper Commons.  (For the record Copper Creek Pub and Grill is also fabulous but unrelated)...

Oak Wood Fire Kitchen

Oak Wood Fire Kitchen

Feb 10, 2015

Oak Wood Fire Kitchen is a new Draper restaurant in the strip mall area of 12300 South and 700 East.  Dining in Draper has been a head scratcher for me for quite a while.  That head scratcher problem is started to go away, and the answer for great eating in Draper is coming more and more into focus with Oak Wood Fire Kitchen. For starters I’m going...

Even Stevens

Even Stevens

Feb 9, 2015

Even Stevens first caught my attention when reviewing an online article of Salt Lake City’s best reuben sandwiches.  3 of the top 5 I expected to see in 9th South Delicatessen, Siegfrieds, and Feldman’s Deli, but then I saw Even Stevens on the list, and I’ve never even heard of them!  When I checked out their website, I noticed that...

Mamak Asian Street Food

Mamak Asian Street Food

Feb 8, 2015

I really didn’t have a great reason to stop here, before heading back to the airport after my last layover in Orlando.  I was already pretty stuffed from a huge lunch at Pig Floyd’s earlier in the afternoon, and still coming out of my food coma after watching a movie downtown.  Mamak ASF came so highly recommended however, that I couldn’t miss...

The Baking Hive

The Baking Hive

Feb 7, 2015

Walking into a new bakery for the first time is one of my favorite moments in life.  When I hear about one being opened, it doesn’t matter where I am, I stop what I’m doing and pay attention.  Just like the dog Doug in the movie “Up” when he detects a squirrel, so do I react with the thought of brownies, cake, or cookies.  That’s...

Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa

Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa

Feb 4, 2015

I’ve been to Orlando dozens of times, but always just went directly to one of the theme parks.  I was flying solo with some time to kill so decided to venture into downtown Orlando to seek out some of the city’s best eats.  I didn’t really have time to do my normal homework on the Interwebs with sites like Yelp and Urbanspoon so instead...

Main Street Kolaches

Main Street Kolaches

Feb 1, 2015

It’s been a sad few years ever since the only place in Salt Lake to get kolaches closed down.  I’m really grateful to have now discovered a new place to get them.  Only problem for those living in Salt Lake City, is you will have driven an hour to get there.  It may just be worth the drive. For those that frequent the area for the camping...
