The Yats Board

The Yats Board

Before my review, let me give you a little backstory with how I managed to find Yats.  For the past year I’ve been taking pictures of my food with a broken iPhone 4.  I was excited to try the iPhone 6 Plus, but my renewal 2 year anniversary came 3 days after the release, so I was unable to preorder the phone.  Due to demand I couldn’t find the phone ANYWHERE in Salt Lake City.  I literally called every store every day for a month looking for the 6 plus.  Ordering online would take 4-6 weeks.  It felt that I would never be able to upgrade.  Last week I hoped on a plane to Indianapolis for a work conference, and as soon as I got off the plane, I called the first BestBuy that came up on my list, and lo and behold, they had a phone in stock!  Luckily after grabbing my bag and renting my car, I raced over to the Best Buy and purchased the phone!  I’m super happy with the phone and look forward to taking better pictures of my food with it!  How does this relate to Yats?  While at Best Buy I started talking to the staff about best places to eat in Indy, and a few of them told me about Yats.  One of the workers told me that they even operate on an I.O.U system if you don’t have cash to pay for your food.  That is how confident they are in the menu.  With that said, I headed there later the next evening to try it out.

Jambalaya and Shrimp Gumbo

Jambalaya and Shrimp Gumbo

I went with the jambalaya and shrimp gumbo.  Holy Cow was this stuff great.  There are maybe 1-2 places in Salt Lake to get good Southern cooking, so this was a welcome dinner.  The shrimp gumbo was probably my favorite.  One thing I noticed on the menu, and didn’t appreciate it fully until I got my plate was the side of french bread that comes with each plate.  You can purchase extra for $0.50 I believe, and I definitely suggest doing so.  The bread is delicious!

Peanut Butter Banana Pie

Peanut Butter Banana Pie

This pie was super thick and tasty as well for dessert.  Nice presentation and a good end to an excellent meal.

Looking at their website I see that Yats has several Indy locations and are expanding into Ohio and Tennessee.  I’m hoping that one day they make their way out West as well!
