Atlantic Surf Club

Atlantic Surf Club

Utah guys like me don’t get to have lunch with views like this very often.  As was the case on 9/11/2014 we had a 6 hour layover at the airport, so grabbed a taxi and made our way to the beach for some food.  Not knowing the rules around here, we parked our carcasses on one of those chairs pictured on the beach in the background.  15 minutes later a city official strolled by to let us know that those chairs were not free, we had to pay to sit there.  LOL  Uhm no thanks!  Up to the Atlantic Surf Club we went.

The place had a pretty open floor plan.  I took this picture from a bar facing an open window looking out into the ocean.  Maybe something taken for granted by locals, but not this guy.  I soaked in every second of the ocean breeze and picturesque views.

Mac and Cheese and a Milkshake

Mac and Cheese and a Milkshake

I started out with a milk shake along with some lobster mac and cheese, because why not?  They are two of my favorite things in the world.  The mac and cheese tasted really good, but I would have preferred smaller pasta noodles.  The lobster was delicious as was the bread crumb topping.  The milkshake was pretty righteous too.

Martin's Burger

Martin’s Burger

I went with the Martin’s burger for my main course.  To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t terribly impressed with it.  The flavors were okay, as was the patty, but it wasn’t held together very well, and the bun was a little dry.  I also got some duck fat fries based off of curiosity alone.  They were not bad but not delicious either.  Between the fries and burger my plate had a pretty significant puddle of oil on it.

The service was really good at the Atlantic Surf Club.  We were the only group at the place as it was a weekday, and they had also just opened for lunch.  I would say the lobster mac and cheese and the ambiance saved the experience for me.  I had fun and so did my work colleague
