Cheese!  Sweet glorious, fantastic gooey cheese!  Walking down the Ferry Market building I passed along dozens of artisan food vendors, but this is the one that grabbed my attention.  I witnessed a gal in the kitchen preparing a huge platter of cheese sandwiches to be grilled.  There was no measuring or portion cups she was using.  Just a gobs and gobs, no make that mounds of mounds of delicious cheese to go on top of a jalapeño pesto spread.  Whenever I see someone preparing a dish by using cheese with reckless abandon, I usually stop.  What makes this place even greater is that in addition to their menu of grilled cheese sandwiches, they have creamy mac and cheese which come in mix-ins of your choosing.  One of those the most glorious substance known to man kind … bacon.

The menu above is about as lactose intolerant friendly as a butcher shop is vegetarian friendly.  They have all sorts of cheese sandwiches, toasties, and cheese laced sandwiches.  And yes, that does say Milk Bar on the right!

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

If Willy  Wonka got into the cheese business instead of chocolate, this would probably be a sandwich he would have created.  They use thick cut Texas toast style bread, and mix together ingredients inside with cheese as always the keynote speaker.  See how the cheese is just spilling out?  This sandwich was lights out!

Mac And Cheese

Mac And Cheese

The Mac And Cheese flavor wise was amazing.  My only complaint was the size of the pasta used.  I like smaller pasta because it just provides more area for the cheese to coat its magic on.  The bread crumbs on top were a nice touch.

Comfort food at its best.  Cowgirl Creamery was A+ when it comes to cheese.  You might not find much more than that, but I have no problem with a place who has found a niche, and exploits and prepares it well.  Giddy Up!
