I had a chance to stop by the Dessert Bites booth at the SLC Winter Farmer’s Market last Saturday to try some of owner Travis Cloyd’s homemade hand crafted desserts.  Travis uses all natural ingredients, and locally sources products in his creations, and they are delicious!

The salted caramel macaron

The salted caramel macaron

Of of the staple products of Dessert Bites is the macaron.  They had a few flavors on display that I sampled.  The one pictured above is the salted caramel macaron.  The macron is covered in a Sicilian lava salt, and the inside filled with a dulce de leche filling.  I liked how the salt gave the macaron a alkalinity quality to it.  The flavors worked great.  Pictured behind was the chocolate merlot macaron.  It was another one of my favorites.

Strawberry macarons

Even though the flavors are 100% natural with real fruit filling to emphasize the quality of the fruit, there is a little artificial coloring added.  Travis mentioned that his sales tripled when he started adding that which I thought was fascinating.  You have to watch out with these macarons, because you may think you are eating just a few, but before you know it you have eaten a dozen or more.  They are that good.

Cookie Mixes

Dessert Bites also has a number of products you can take with you to make at home like these mason jar full of cookie mix.  Travis has been baking bite size wonders for the past 5 years and is mainly involved with local events, catering, and weddings.

Salted Caramel Dessert Sauce

Salted Caramel Dessert Sauce

Don’t be fooled by the wrapper on this little jar.  It says “Dessert Sauce” but in reality, it is so good, you could and should put it on just about anything.  I love caramel with a little salt quality to it.  This is some of the best stuff I’ve sampled.  It went great on the Dessert Bites brownies.

Gourmet Dark Chocolate Brownies

Gourmet Dark Chocolate Brownies

I could tell right away these brownies were gourmet and hand crafted and not something you would find in a mix.  I took my first bite, and it took me a few seconds to gather in all the different taste elements of the brownie.  There was a richness throughout and a nice dark chocolate flavor to the brownie.  Add some salted caramel dessert sauce to these, and you have your self a winner!  The chocolate they use is from Millcreek Cacao Roasters Artisan Chocolate and made right here in Salt Lake City.

Sin Cake

Finally Dessert Bites makes these little sin cakes for your enjoyment.  It consisted of a layer of cheesecake with a chocolate base.  You can’t really go wrong when combining those two.

Travis works and bakes out of Park City, but operates and delivers all around the Salt Lake Valley.  You can follow them on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.  Send him a message and have them cater your next office celebration or event, and you won’t be disappointed.

I agree with your comments about Dessert Bites. I love their products and have many of them shipped to me and my friends. I especially love the Merlot and Creamsicle Macarons.
