Oakdell Farm Eggs

One of my all-time favorite meals is breakfast, and pretty much the crown jewel of the breakfast food is the egg.  I spent most of my life thinking, that an egg was just an egg, and it really didn’t matter where I purchased them, the taste would be the same.  After trying Oakdell Egg Farms’ product, I stand corrected.  It was actually the first time I’ve ever tasted a brown egg.  I noticed a few things about these eggs, that you don’t get from the mass produced white grocery store egg.  First, the brown eggs have little spots on them in places, which is perfectly natural.  Also I noticed while cracking these eggs, the shell was a lot stronger and healthier.  White eggs I could crack with ease, as the shells are brittle.  Even when you shop at the store, you have to really check the eggs to make sure none are cracked.  That problem doesn’t exist with these organic, hormone free eggs.

A bit about Oakdell Egg Farms, they have actually been in business for over 100 years right here locally in Cache Valley, Utah.  The eggs are always hormone and antibiotic free, and are produced by cage free birds that eat fertilizer and pesticide free feed.  I believe after doing some cooking with these eggs, they are better tasting, and healthier.

But I had of course to put it to the test, so I made a fresh batch of pericos, which are basically eggs, butter, green onion, and tomato.  It’s a popular dish from my wife’s native Colombia.  Here is a picture of the end product

Pericos!

Pericos!

These pericos were excellent, notice the color and beauty of the dish.  I toasted up some bread, and made some hot chocolate and it was a yummy, yummy meal.  You can purchase Oakdell Egg Farms products and these fine retailers.
