Per Noi Trattoria is a great find in the middle of a large residential area in Sugarhouse. The inside isn’t anything overly glamorous, just a comfortable, family feel to the restaurant. Nice enough for date night, but not so fancy where you would feel uncomfortable bringing along the kiddos. For the quality of the Italian food you get, the prices were fantastic. I don’t recall anything on the menu over $20 bucks. My son even got a delicious salmon for $13, so Per Noi is a great choice if you want “fine-dining” level quality of food that won’t break the bank.
The bread that came with our oil and vinegar was delicious. It was soft and extremely spongy, which was good to soak up the oil and vinegar. Who doesn’t love fresh warm bread with something to dip with?
Because it was under $5, I went with an order of the Arancini for an appetizer. Arancini is a rice, cheese, peas, and sausage that is deep-fried. I really liked the breading of the dish, it was light and easy to cut into. The stuffing worked well. I was curious to see what the rice would taste like with the marinara sauce, but it turned out great.
Here is my son’s grilled salmon. The veggies and fish were straight forward and well prepared. It didn’t wow me, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. I found it to be an awesome portion for what you pay for. My son cleaned the plate except for the veggies, but then again, what else would you expect from a 10-year-old?
My daughter got the pepperoni pizza. Visually I’ve seen better “looking” pizzas, but the crust was awesome. The pepperoni wasn’t something you would typically find at other pizza places. This was a good pie.
The winner of the night was my dish. This lasagna was as good as any I’ve ever had. There were big chunks of delicious meat inside, with ample ricotta, and delicious lasagna pasta noodles. It was everything lasagna lovers could hope for and more.
My wife got the chicken parmesan. Once again, the veggies were appropriately cooked and spiced. The chicken was yummy, and I already knew the sauce and cheese would be good and was.
My friend ordered the ravioli. I can’t really tell you anything about this dish, because he wouldn’t let me try it, and it was gone rather quickly. That probably means it was good.
I would recommend this place for some yummy Italian food. I recognize Chef Francesco from when he worked over at Michelangelo’s. He is a great host, and will take good care of you.
