This is my 3rd of 4th trip to Red Rock, and if my memory serves me well, have enjoyed it each time, but it wasn’t until this visit to the new location at Fashion Place Mall that I ordered the perfect items. Now I’m hooked on this place. I like the new Fashion Place Mall re-design that has happened over the last year or so. They have added new stores and restaurants like Brio, Cheesecake Factory, Corner Bakery, and California Pizza Kitchen. Red Rock Brewing Company is one of those additions. They really did a nice job with the inside of the restaurant taking placing a Utah landmarks theme throughout. They have a bar area with smaller tables for two, as well as several “sections” of the restaurant for families, large groups, and private parties. I thought the place was beautiful.
I went with the first thing I saw in the appetizer section, and it turned out my choice was the clear winner of the night. I rank it up near the top of favorite appetizers of all-time.
This bruschetta could have been served at any fine Italian restaurant and no one would have questioned it. They take a cup of slow roasted tomatoes with fresh basil on the top. They have a small layer of olive oil on the bottom of the cup, it all blended together very well. That “patty” looking thing on the left is actually a goat cheese ball crusted with walnuts. It was exceptional. The parmesan toasted bread was the perfect canvas for the cheese and tomatoes with basil. Everyone at our table went at this dish with reckless abandon, even the picky eaters. The only thing I didn’t know what to do with was the roasted garlic, but hey, it looked like it belonged and made the plate even more appetizing!
This plate was as well put together as any I’ve ever had. I went ahead and substituted the regular fries with some sweet potato ones. The fry sauce was great. Red Rock then takes two slices of thick Texas Toast sourdough, and put some sliced New York steak and caramelized onions on the inside. They then melt Gruyere and mozzarella cheeses on top and give you a cup of French Onion soup “au jus” to dip it in. The thing that was going through my mind as I ate this incredible sandwich was “Boy did I make the right choice!”
My wife went with the cobb salad and she loved it. Check out all the stuff that comes on the salad. There is so much going on, you don’t even notice the romaine lettuce bed on the bottom. You definitely get your money’s worth with this dish.
I had my kids split one of the wood fired pizzas. It was as tasty as it looks. The crust was chewy and delicious and the cheese and toppings were great. Red Rock has 4-5 different pizzas as well as a daily chef-created specialty pizza.
And to cop off an excellent meal, we went with the bread pudding. Bread pudding has become my favorite dessert over the last few months. This stuff was some of the best I’ve tasted. The bread pudding slices were thin enough where you could easily get a spoonful of ice cream and pastry in the same bite. I wasn’t even ashamed to lick the remaining remnants of caramel sauce when we were finished.
I have to say Red Rock just shot up my list of favorite places to eat. As I mentioned earlier, this was my 4th visit, and just loved it this time. The only thing I could have done without was the tomato soup, which was just average. Everything else was top-notch. Our service was spectacular as well. We were seated fast, had our order taken fast, and our food came out in a respectable time. What a great experience I had here!
