I love the name of this place. It is not just A Chocolate dessert cafe, it is THE Chocolate dessert cafe. The end all of end all chocolate dessert cafes if you will. Then there is a picture of one of their huge cakes on the sign. I’m surprised South Jordan city has not petitioned the chocolate cake to come down for all the accidents it is causing. I mean, I know speaking for myself, my first instinct while driving down Redwood Road and seeing a big picture of a chocolate cake would be to slam on my breaks and shout “Where! Where!”. Chocolate lovers and dessert lovers alike. I give you THE Chocolate! (a dessert cafe)
The inside of The Chocolate was just how I imagined it would be from the road. If I were a real estate agent, I might even call it “charming” (Yes, I went there). They have a nice planked wooden floor, with cozy furniture, and decorations. Attention Gardner Village! I think I found your missing building, it is hanging out over on 90th and Redwood! I mean look at this display case full of delicious looking cupcakes. I swear it was my intention to have maybe 1 cookie tops, but The Chocolate decided not to play fair, and display their wares like, oh I don’t know, any bakery would. If I were in a Loony Tunes cartoon, you would probably see little cupcakes floating around my head. Yes, it was at this moment, I made big plans and big purchases.
The chocolate has over a dozen of single serving delights including cookies, cupcakes, tarts, macaroons, brownies, bars, and more. Then on top of the counters, they had these huge cakes, that were like lighthouses to weary sailors seeking chocolate. Curse me for not taking a picture of them, but I didn’t want to blow my cover as a foodie with the nice young lady standing behind the counter.
I did manage however to get a covert picture of the huge slice of Kitty Katrina cake. I almost went with The Cherub, which was a chocolate cake filled with about a million and a half milk chocolate flavors, but I still had to go back to work, and didn’t want to go into a chocolate coma. Besides, the Kitty Katrina was still uncut, so I wanted to get that first slice! I want you to stare at the picture of this cake for a few seconds, and take note of how moist the cake looks. Now I can tell you it is probably 5 times more moist and delicious than your wildest imagination. Why else would they put it on top a fancy latticed paper inside its own cozy little box?
I also went with the lemon curd cupcake, just out of principle. I never go into a bakery and only purchase one item. My thought behind that is if you only get one item, and then finish off that one item, then it is gone, and then what the hell are you supposed to do? Also not pictured here was the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. You see there was a slight wardrobe malfunction as I was preparing to take the picture. The cookie sort of … got eaten … by me.
The Chocolate. A dessert cafe. I know we just got finished with Valentine’s Day, but hey you can still treat yourself to some tasty delights. Oh and as a final public service announcement. They also sell “frosty” glasses of milk. Pure bliss!
