I felt it was time for my first venture outside the Salt Lake City area. Many of us will be thinking of family vacations and trips, and a favorite place for all Utahns to visit is of course the most magical place on earth – DISNEYLAND !!! Every visit to Disneyland without fail I always count dozens of U of U and BYU shirts and caps. Yes we love our Disneyland. Disney has always been very special to me and my family. My first trip was actually on my honeymoon. My wife and I went to Orlando, Florida and spent a week at Disney World. Every since that day we have been back to Florida 3 times, and to Anaheim around 7-8 times. I love Disneyland! There is literally nothing like a Monte Cristo sandwich by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, or sipping on a pineapple dole whip shake by the Enchanted Tiki Room. However, we Utahns also know that eating inside the park at Disney can cost you big time. Have you ever wondered what treasures lie in the Anaheim area as far as food goes? Let me take the liberty to do your homework for you. If you are going to venture outside the park and have access to the car, I highly suggest you take a 10 minute drive to Bruxie. Of all the places I’ve been to in Anaheim, this is far and away the best food and experience you can get!
This place is pure magic. It is located in Orange County, California on a beautiful street in front of a local college. Bruxie makes gourmet waffle sandwiches. The one pictured above is one of their specials, the buttermilk fried chicken and waffle. Yes take a moment to read that again …. BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN …. AND !!!! WAFFLE !!!! Just thinking of this dish makes me want to jump on the next plane to California. Bruxie waffles are made fresh to order and are light and crispy making the perfect little nesting place for some delicious sandwich fixings. The chicken was delicious and it was coated with honey and cole slaw. These magical creations are pure genius. You can also get a Bruxie burger with a delicious burger, tomato, lettuce, and cheese inside your waffle, as well as an assortment of other waffle concoctions that will make your wildest dreams come true. I think at the time of this post I read something about a Philly Cheesesteak waffle. (I think a tear just formed in my eye.) My wife ordered a Nutella and banana waffle that was so delicious it was sinful.
There you have it guys. Planning a trip to Disneyland soon and want to eat something awesome just minutes from the park? Food Radar has you covered. Bruxie is amazing. And for our fellow California friends that are coming to Utah to visit our great city, we don’t have awesome waffle sandwiches like Bruxie here, but check out my other reviews of some great local places to eat.
